Pian dei Sali Oasis

In collaboration with the provincial WWF , the Municipality of Malesco, in the mid-90s, designated an area near Finero as a natural oasis, the WWF Oasis at Pian dei Sali.

The flat and marshy bottom of the site was perfect for the culture of amphibians, thanks to the arrangement of small ponds shaded by pine trees and also allowed the creation of a circular itinerary about 2 km long.

The vegetation is composed of resinous essences and beeches, but it is also possible to observe an interesting undergrowth.

The presence of iron and magnesium-based rocks, with olivine crystals, has also been the subject of mining activities.

Finally, it is important to underline that the area of the Oasis is also an interesting destination from a geological point of view, it is, in fact, frequented by scholars from beyond the Alps for its considerable geological interest, because it is located on the border between the Fobello - Rimella belt. and Finero's Ultrafamic body.
